The Story Behind: Mushrooms take me back to rainy autumn days in Italy, especially in October and November. The mushrooms that were growing everywhere along my route to school as a child fascinated me. I still have memories of going with my uncle Pasquale on his Sunday mushroom-picking excursions. I'd often tell my dad, "I want to go mushroom-picking again! During my teen years, when I went out to eat with friends at local pizzerias, I could not wait for October so I could enjoy a pizza topped with my favorite porcini mushrooms.
